The C word.
It floats around everywhere. Poking and prodding where it’s certainly not wanted. Casually flirting with some, yet strangling others.
I don’t usually talk about cancer, let alone actually saying the word out loud. This blooming nasty has visited some of our family. Friends too. They are gone and it scares me. If I am honest, in the past it’s always been something that happened to other people, far far away. It didn’t ever seem quite real. That’s until 2 strong family members were taken in a blink of an eye. They were leaders, professionals, strong and bright. Full of life. Except cancer didn’t care and decided to pay a visit. And, as if by some sick twist of fate, each were barely diagnosed before they were suddenly and unexpectedly stolen.
I switched off.
But then I heard about Ian Toothill. A chance email from a work colleague, a friend of Ian’s, shared with our team. His story got under my skin, not because of his campaign to raise much needed money for Macmillan Cancer Support, but it was his passion. His passion to go grab his dream.
I don’t’ know about you, but as a parent that’s the exact attitude I am forever trying to install in my little one. That unswerving passion to chase down adventures and really live life.
Help Ian Get To Everest
Ian is aiming to be the first person, with cancer, to reach the summit of Mount Everest. With a little bit of help from his friends, no doubt he will get there. It may sound like a crazy way to spend your last few months, but this is Ian’s passion and we are all cheering him on for this one last epic adventure.
Ian is raising funds for his challenge and also for Macmillan Cancer Support, a truly worthy cause. You can help Ian on his way by donating and/or sharing his link across social media to send his message that ‘anything is possible’ as far and as wide as it can possibly go.
This is Ian’s story
We wish Ian all that best on his adventures and will be cheering him on all the way!
Don’t forget to give Ian a little nod and follow him on twitter.
