Wind the mummy up – A parenting parody

June 28, 2018

I’m absolutely loving getting my teeth into writing parodies. I’d never really considered doing them before, but then this happened, and it’s been full steam ahead. Here’s my latest one to the good ol’ fashioned rhyme ‘Wind The Bobbin Up’. If you’ve not heard of it before, hit play for the tune at the bottom of the page.

Wind the mummy up - A parenting parody

Wind the mummy up – A parenting parody

Wind the mummy up

Wind the mummy up

Whinge, whinge, whine, whine, whine

Wind her back again

Wind her back again

Kiss, kiss, clap, clap, clap

Point to the ceiling

Point to the floor

This mornings breakfast

Spattered all-over the floor

Clap your hands together

1, 2, 3

Then pick your bogeys gleefully.

Wind the mummy up

Wind the mummy up

Pull, pull, scream, scream, scream

Wind her back again

Wind her back again

Hugs, hugs, give her loves

Point to the ceiling

Point to the floor

Cray-on scribbles

on the door *oops

Clap your hands together

1, 2, 3

And smear your ice cream on her knee.

Wind the mummy up

Wind the mummy up

Refuse. To. Go to bed

Wind her back again

Wind her back again

Hush, hush, rest that sleepy head

Point to the ceiling

Point to the floor

Destroy your duvet

Throw your pillow about some more

Clap your hands together

1, 2, 3

Then topple out of bed like Humpty Dumpty

Wind the mummy up

Wind the mummy up

Get up, get up, 5 billion times

Wind her back again

Wind her back again

Shhh!! Shhh!!! Close your sleepy eyes

Point to the ceiling

Point to the floor

Mummy’s bed

Is so com-forta-ble

Clap your hands together

1, 2, 3

Then wriggle and squirm

like a fidgety flee.
