Quotes To Inspire A Can Do Attitude

Over half term week we had a huge break through with Little Button. She wrote her very first creative writing story. I say it’s a huge break through, because she’s in reception class and at 5 years old that’s a pretty huge accomplishment. She practically filled an A4 page with her story about Lucy the caterpillar, her take on the life cycle of a butterfly. It did contain lots of “and then’s” and there was help with spelling some tricky words. But, she did it. And I couldn’t be prouder! I just wish I’d taken a photo of what she had achieved.

Before her pencil hit the paper, there were moments where she felt like she wouldn’t be able to do. But with a little bit of encouragement (and the wise words of Winnie The Pooh) once she had that ‘can do’ attitude motivating her, off she went.

Well done little button! Getting kids to believe they can do things is so important but also really hard. I wish I could bottle up that moment of pride when they’ve accomplished something to remind them to go for it then next time they have doubts. #dreamteam

That’s awesome, congrats to the little one on the story.

Some quotes I like are: “Feel the fear and do it anyway,” I don’t know who said it; “Keep calm and carry on,” the stoic British classic; “whatever the human mind can believe, the human mind can achieve,” Napoleon Hill; and, “Success is a mindset,” Will Ferrell’s character in “Get Hard”

I love the Winnie the Pooh on. He’s one wise bear. I’m not deeply religious, but for me the words of the serenity prayer get me through most situations in life. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. #dreamteam

That’s a fabulous achievement! Well done little button! Is that typical for UK 5 years olds? To be able to read well enough to be able to write a story?

    • March 5, 2018 / 10:40 pm

I don’t think it’s generally typical for a reception class child. But they all have their leaps and bounds moments at different times – so we are all about embracing when they happen.
