DIY Valentine’s Day Wreath – A Love for Craft campaign

Do you love getting crafty? Us too!

There is a fabulous new campaign called ‘A Love for Craft’ being run over at Go Cable Ties. The idea is to help inspire us to get crafty and add a bit of sparkle to our home for this Valentine’s, a day that can often be overlooked after the magic of Christmas and the eager anticipation of Easter (mmmm chocolate eggs!).

Luckily for us they have gathered some super-easy projects here on their Pinterest board.

And….. you will never guess what…. I was challenged to take part in their ‘A love for craft – Valentine’s Challenge’!

Here’s how I got on.

My challenge was to get into the spirit of Valentine’s Day by making this beautiful DIY wreath.

Looks fabulous don’t you think? That’s the picture I was sent of what I would be making. Hmmmm… yes, this definitely does look like quite a challenge!

Over the week gocableties sent me everything I needed to make the stunning wreath;

– a styrofoam heart

– lots of red felt

– some pins

– a ribbon for hanging

To be honest, before I got started this was me….

However, it’s amazing how easy this project actually is and the results are oh so pretty!

To begin with, I used a small drinking glass to mark out a load of circles on the red felt and then cut them out.

Then to create a petal effect, I took a circle and folded it in half and then in half again. I secured the petal by pushing a pin through the bottom and then pinned it to the styrofoam heart.

 I did this until the front of the styrofoam heart was completely covered, then lastly I attached the ribbon to the back of the wreath for hanging.

Here it is… what do you think?

    What a simple craft with a beautiful finish, I thought it would be really complex so I nearly came off your page thinking I could never do that! I love it and it really looks like something I may be able to do! #HowtoSunday
