Baby Annabell Doll Review

Have you seen the NEW Baby Annabell doll yet? You’ll want to have a peek as she (and her brother) are perfect Christmas gifts to have on the little ones wish lists this year!

Baby Annabell

Little Button adores playing at dolls. The only problem is that there are so many to choose from, right? A couple of years ago her toy box was on the brink of exploding with the mass of dolls she had collected but wasn’t particularly playing with. And that’s when I realised where we had been going wrong. We had somehow forgotten that actually, 1 or 2 really good quality dolls, just like Baby Annabell, are worth 100 of the cheap dolls that lose their legs (and hair?) in a matter of weeks. So, we did what any parents would have done. We ditched the mass and haven’t looked back since! Honestly, it’s a game changer when you see how much joy and playtime your little one will get out of a few treasured dolls, in comparison to a bucket of OK (rubbish) ones. Here’s what happened when Little Button met the NEW Baby Annabell Doll.

Meeting The New Baby Annabell Doll

Right off, I have to tell you that Little Button already has the older version of this Baby Annabell doll. It was one of the first that we bought her after ditching all the cheap dolls she had previously. Zapf Creation are well known for producing exquisite dolls, and the NEW Baby Annabell doll did not disappoint.

Little Button immediately spotted the main visual difference between the new and older generation Baby Annabell doll. Her gorgeous (new) face! She ooohhhed and ahhed at her through the packaging and couldn’t wait to get into the box to have a cuddle with her new friend.

One of the things that we love about Zapf Creation in general, is the attention to detail and the extras that come with their dolls. When you buy a Baby Annabell doll, she feels complete as she comes with all the basics that you need to be able to fully play with her.

The NEW Baby Annabell Doll comes fully dressed, together with a bottle, bib, a spare nappy, dummy and a very lovely toy locket.

What Does Baby Annabell Do?

Baby Annabell is so beautifully made and dressed, that I’m quite sure that Little Button would have been thrilled whether she had any functions or not.

She felt cuddly and weighted, giving her a more lifelike feel, which is something that really captures Little Buttons imagination.

If you turn Baby Annabell on her tummy and open up the velcro section on her back, you will see that she can be switched on or off. Once on, Baby Annabell springs to life and really shows off exactly what makes her so special.

Baby Annabell is interactive. She coo’s and babbles like a real life baby, will drift off to sleep and softly snore in your arms, and probably the most exciting for Little Button, she suckles as she drinks water from her bottle.

But that’s not all! Once she’s had her fill of her bottle, if she cries, she will cry real tears! Don’t worry though, she’s very easily soothed by a rocking action or her dummy. How cute is that!

She can also wet her nappy or wee in a potty with a little press of her heart shaped belly button.

Old Generation Baby Annabell vs New Generation Baby Annabell

Little Button loves both of her Baby Annabell dolls and now plays with them side by side. If pushed to give a favourite, she confirms that she does prefer the new Baby Annabell as she’s prettier and you can do more with her. Here they are side by side so you can see what she means.

The face detailing does appear to have a fresher and more friendly look. Perhaps she’s meant to be a bit older.

Our Overall Thoughts

Little Button without a doubt loves her new Baby Annabell doll. The added features have her captivated and has opened up even more role play opportunities. Making this feel like a good quality all-rounder doll that certainly won’t be left at the bottom of the toy box. As I said earlier, perfect for Christmas!
