Mother’s Day – BakerDays Letterbox Gift Cake review

February 27, 2016

Doesn’t that word just bring a smile to your face.

Just imagine the look on your mums face if she received a beautiful personalised cake this Mother’s Day right through her letterbox. BakerDays (a super Personalised Celebration Cake Specialist) can help you make this happen, and for a very reasonable price too.

How does it work?

Open the BakerDays website here. Can you see all the different cake designs? There are so many to choose from! Have a go at picking one. I chose the ‘Best Mum Flowers’ design. I think it’s perfect for Mother’s Day. Where is says ‘size’, make sure you have the ‘Letterbox Gift Cake’ selected. It will be a perfectly formed 5 inch cake and will fit easily through your letterbox.

Fabulous flavours

Next, you need to decide what flavour cake you want. Ekk! They all look delicious. What did you pick? I chose the ‘Vanilla Sponge Cake’, a total classic and perfect for a little tea party.

Finally…make it personal

The cake design I chose gave the option of customising the text and image, which meant that I was able to have my new blog design featured on the cake. How fab is that! Have a go yourself and see how easy it is to add little personal touches to your own cake for gifting, or perhaps you will send one to yourself (sounds good me!).

Finished? All you need to do is checkout and there you have it – a delicious personalised surprise gift.

Mother’s Day treat

BakerDays kindly sent me my letterbox gift cake to review – how lucky am I. Cake is my absolute favourite, so even though I knew that my cake would arrive the very next day, I found myself rushing to the letterbox just in case!

Sure enough, with a little shuffle and thud, there was my BakerDays cake the very next day. Don’t tell anyone, but I was actually waiting for the postman to see if the cake really would easily make it through the letterbox… it did! Hooraa!

With great restraint, I carefully opened the package and found a lovely round cake tin, a card, sweets and some information on the cake.

The day before, I pictured savouring the moment, and carefully opening the box to reveal the cake! Except in practice I grabbed the tin, popped it open in a flash, then stood mouth-opened in surprise and delight beaming at the cake…the whole cake, which managed it’s entire journey in one piece and looking as though it had just been baked and handed to me.

The overall finish and quality of the design is very high, and the smell was…. mmmmm delicious. It felt like a very luxurious gift to receive indeed.

Even Little Button couldn’t keep her hands-off, singing ‘look mummy, I am on your cake!’.

The cake easily gives 4 portions, but we cut it slightly smaller and managed 6 slices. ‘It’s wonderful’ chirped Little Button as she took a nibble. I second that. It tasted fresh and as good as it looked and smelt. The soft, moist vanilla sponge was complimented by buttercream and the sweetness of the icing was just enough to make you feel satisfied with a slice (or 2!).

I can’t recommend BakerDays Letterbox Gift Cakes enough. In fact, we were so impressed that once I have finished writing this post, I will be ordering a ‘new baby’ Letterbox Gift Cake for one of the family.
