Pop Pops Pets Review – let’s get popping!

May 18, 2019

Just when I thought we’d seen it all, Yulu toys have popped up in the UK with a brand new and exciting range of collectable toys! Super cute Pop Pops Pets and gross out Pop Pops Snotz (I’ll leave that one to your imagination 😉

We were sent this enormous Pop Pops influencer box so we could show you what they’re all about.

Pop Pops Pets Review – let’s get popping!

Pop Pops Pets are exactly what they sound like. Something that you pop to reveal a collectible pet inside.

Except… there’s a deliciously gooey twist that each Pop Pops Pet bubble is filled with bright coloured pink or purple slime!

Pop Pops Pets Review - let’s get popping!

As like most little ones, Little Button LOVES popping things, can’t get enough of slime AND adores pocket sized collectible toys that she can whisk into her pockets to play with at the most unexpected times. So I knew these were going to be a winner for her before she’d even started popping.

What’s inside each pack of Pop Pops Pets?

Pop Pops Pets currently come in 2 sizes. A starter pack of 6 bubbles and a deluxe pack of 12 bubbles. The idea behind the unboxing of these are that you are popping to reveal a hidden pet.

You’ll find 1 pet to every 3 bubbles. So in the starter pack expect to find 2 hidden pets and in the 12 pack expect to find 4 hidden pets. The other bubbles will still contain that wonderful gloopy soft slime.

Each pack also has a little play sheet which is printed with a fun scene for the pets to sit on. This is a lovely touch to spark little ones imaginations as they play with their collectibles.

Ready, steady, POP!

Here are the bubbles! They look fab don’t they. I love how it takes a bit of welly to get them popped, not only because it adds to the fun, but it also helps to prevent any accidental pops too.

Once the bubble is popped, you can pull out your slime and see if you were lucky enough to find one of the hidden collectible pets.

Little Button LOVED popping the bubbles! She had so many to do and to be honest, I thought she’d get bored after 2 packs, but she didn’t at all! #PoppingMachine

There are 60 Pop Pops Pets to collect in series 1, and these include some rare, super rare and special editions, which all add to the fun.

Meet the Pop Pops Pets

The Pop Pops Pets inside the bubbles are tiny! As in, really teeny tiny! They are grouped into sets of playful kittens, seals, sloths, llamas, penguins, piggies and wiener dogs.

When Little Buttons showed me this one I was convinced it was a hot dog, but she gleefully pointed out that it’s actually a sealy sausage! Haha!

Even though tiny, these pets are so tactile and soft. Just like the slime they come out of. And for this reason they are very holdable and easy to play with.

If you check the packaging you will see that Pop Pops Pets are aimed at 5 year olds and upwards – which seems about right. Little Button is 6, and I would say that although she’s very sensible, I would still fully supervise her playing with these.

After a serious amount of popping Little Button collected a bowl full of soft squidgy slime from all her bubbles! It’s really good stuff, so we’ve kept it in a tupperware box so she can keep playing with it in future games.

And these are the Pop Pops Pets that she found!

Our overall thoughts

Pop Pops Pets are a really fun collectible for those that love miniature toys and slime. The whole popping process gets a huge thumbs up from Little Button, who found them completely hilarious. She adored the tiny pets hidden in the bubbles and liked how it was a surprise to see if you had found one or not in the slime.

They kept her entertained for an afternoon in the garden. And, she’s gone back to play with them every few days or so since the unboxing.

From a parents point of view my only little niggle is that little ones (and big ones!) may not realise from the packaging that it’s 1 pet to 3 bubbles. The concept is very strong, but I’m not sure the starter pack on it’s own would be enough to really get the most out of Pop Pops Pets – if you hadn’t opened them before. But overall they were tons of fun and Little Button was thrilled to get her hands on them.

Pop Pops Pets are available from Smyths, The Entertainer and other good toy retailers.

  10. Isabel says:

Mhm I’m sure it’s great fun for kids and I surely would have enjoyed this more than popping bubblewrap (or bladderwreck). But seeing that it’s a small plastic toy that comes in some kind of (plasticy?) gel, wrapped in a plastic bubble which itself is contained in a plastic wrapped cardboard no doubt further packaged in plastic, I don’t quite see the point of this? It’s pollution, without any great creative/ educational value from what I can see?

  11. It looks a lot of fun to reveal them and I love the element of surprise. For us they are too small and will be spread all over the house and I’ll end up treading on them. But they look super cute. #DreamTeam

  12. The slime itself is definitely a winner already! Thanks for sharing! #DreamTeam
