Summer is on its way! With temperatures quickly rising, Little Button made a beeline for the sandpit and paddling pool yesterday afternoon. Galloping upstairs I could hear her looking for something to wear. Delighted yelps turned into deafening screeches, which were quickly followed by bellows of ‘it’s all YOUR fault!’ Now, where have I heard that before? However, a quick peek round the door revealed a stuck Little Button half toppling over, mid squeeze, trying to fit into her too small swimsuit. Ah yes… I knew I had forgotten something!
‘Not to worry, shorts and a t shirt will do for now’, I encouraged whilst trying to detangle and peel her out of the offending suit. ‘It’s OK’’, I reasoned looking around desperately for the scissors. Gulp! *It did come off in the end… eventually.
Once happily knee deep in water and splattering wet sand everywhere, I whipped out my phone in search for a new suit for her. When it comes to swimwear for Little Button, I always plumb for a protective sunsuit with a good UPF50+ sun protection rating. This means that the suit can double up for normal swimming, outdoor splashy fun and the all-important trips to the coast that we take.
Baby Swimming Shop
I love the range on offer from the Baby Swimming Shop. Don’t let the name fool you as this online store stocks sizes from baby up to teen. The Platypus Australia range has really caught my eye because I know that Little Button loves bright girly colours and anything that will make her super easy to spot is a winner for me.
My favourite pieces
Bloom UPF50+ Fitted Short Sleeve Rash Vest with Boyleg shorts (£34.95). I think a 2-piece set is fab for little ones (think toilet breaks) and the flower design is gorgeous. This was Little Buttons favourite, so I have put in an order!
Bloom UPF50+ Bike Short (£16.95). These are great to have up your sleeve for a colder day as they have over the knee coverage.
Bloom UPF50+ Sunskirt (£29.95). This is a full 1-piece suit in a gorgeous bright pink. I love the little skirt detailing which makes this perfect for any girly girl.
Bloom Sundress (£36.95). Little Button loves anything dressy and this lightweight sundress cover-up is perfect to wear to and from the beach. It even matches the swimsuit I have picked out for her.
Bloom UPF50+ Cap (£14.95). No outfit would be complete without a lovely sunhat. This hat is really clever because it can be worn in or out of water. It has super quick drying fabric too.
What do you think of our choice, and do you prefer swimsuits or sunsuits for your little ones?

I’d never thought of buying a swimsuit with sun protection, so thanks for the heads up on that. I too didn’t have any fitting swimwear for Baby Lighty when Mr Lighty offered to take him swimming the other week so I need to invest. Love the little sundress above, would look so sweet on little girls! Thanks for hosting #dreamteam 🙂
They are so handy, especially when trying to keep shoulders covered. Good luck with the swimming 🙂
Lovely pieces! It was really stressful trying to get Josh dressed for the sun; I didn’t want him to be too hot but I also wanted him to be covered up! Thanks for hosting #dreamteam xx
🙂 That is exactly why I love these sunsuits. They make them for boys too. We used to do the whole swim suit + t shirt thing, but these are much easier. x
These are brilliant! I’m taking my 11mo daughter to Spain in August and have been looking for costumes that protect her from the sun. Thanks for the heads up! #dreamteam
Oh wow, that sounds like a lovely summer holiday. Hope you find the right costume 🙂 x
I love the little sundress cover up, it’s very cute! I need to get a new swimsuit for my little one and her swimming lessons come to think of it! #dreamteam
Is she already doing swimming lessons…what age did she start at? x
These are beautiful! The shorts and top style are so practical as nothing worse than trying to get back in to a wet swimsuit after a wee. And the sun protection is ideal as mine always complain about having cream on, so the less needed the better.
I love all the colours on these designs, so pretty and summery! Thanks for hosting #DreamTeam x
Yes, they really are super summery, can’t wait to see what they are like. x
These suits look great, thanks for the recommendations. I much prefer putting on a protective suit to having to use tons of sun cream! And the illustration is gorgeous! #dreamteam
* blushes* thank you 🙂 I can’t believe she got so stuck in her old costume! x
these are so cute! ill be passing these ideas onto my sister for my little niece #dreamteam

I can’t wait to try it out. I have a feeling we will be adding to the collection. x
We get our daughter the shorts with shirt pretty much every year, and then get her a towel dress to wear over it works great! #DreamTeam
Yes, they are such a good idea. I didn’t show Little Button the towel dress or should would have wanted the whole shop! x
So cute! Will be taking a look 🙂 #dreamteam
