Me, in the Middle cover art reveal – *giggles, my second picture book!!

*RUNS IN* I’m SO excited to be able to officially share the cover art for my brand new children’s picture book Me, in the Middle! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!

I’m still swooning over the beautiful illustrations which were done by the incredible Angela Mayers. It was almost like she peeked into my head, and drew our leading characters exactly how I was imagining them.

About Me, in the Middle

“As Georgie’s class learn all about family trees, she finds pride in her far-reaching roots. A celebration of the diversity in all types of family trees.” 

Me in the Middle is loosely based on my own experience as a mixed heritage child. Did you guess I was? Just like our leading little lady Georgie in the book, not many people can place my roots! And, that can make things a little bit tricky at times. 

Georgie feels out of place during a lesson at school about family trees, especially when she’s asked to point out where her parents come from on a map. All her friends seem confident, and know which country to pick. But Georgie isn’t sure where to stand, as her mum is from the UK and her dad is from Africa. Where does she belong?   

It’s an uplifting story which shows that families come in lots of different shapes, sizes and colours, all of which are special and should be celebrated. And importantly, that you can’t define someone at a glance, because we are all so much more than what can be seen on the surface.

I feel like the luckiest person in the world right now, all thanks to Owlet Press, Sam and of course Angela, for giving this story a place on the bookshelf. -A million thank yous!
