11 back to school daft comments beta parent will always say

August 28, 2018

Getting ready to go back to school can bring out the most peculiar comments from Beta parent.

Back to school

When there’s only 1 style of school shoe left on the shelf in the right size AND the little one is wailing into the shop assistants face as if it’s HER fault.

Beta to Alpha: Why didn’t you get them school shoes BEFORE they broke up from school for the summer?

When Alpha parent looks at the humongous ‘Back to School’ to do list in front of them and sighs. *To no one in particular.

Full time working Beta to full time working Alpha: You had the whole school holidays to do all that though.

Alpha to Beta: So did you!!

The shops have temporarily run out of Autumn term uniform.

Beta to Alpha: They can wear their summer uniforms. No one will notice. Right?

Following suspect huge growth spurts, Alpha insists all uniform is tried on again. Little is nearly flashing pants in new pinny.

Beta to Alpha: Why didn’t YOU buy the next size up?

Alpha to Beta: I am NOT a growth spurt psychic.

Following on from too short pinny’s.

Beta to Alpha: YOU will have to buy new ones. What a waste.

Alpha to Beta: Doh?! *Too self – of course I left them in the blinking bag with tags and hangers in tact. I’ll switch them for a larger size and the buy MYSELF something nice for a change mehehehehe!!

Following no growth spurt, littles are drowning in new uniform.

Beta to Alpha: Well done. These will do for next year too.

Alpha: *No words.

Littles to Beta: Can we have these cool lunchboxes for school??? Puuurrrrlllleeeaaaassseeee!!!!

Beta to Littles: Yes!

Alpha to Beta: They have school dinners.

On finding out the kids have school dinners.

Beta to Alpha: But I could have sworn that I packed the most epic school lunchbox last year?

Alpha: You did. For a couple of school trips.

The week before school starts back.

Beta to Alpha: Was there homework to do?

Alpha to Beta: Glares towards elaborate projects lined up in a row.

Sunday night, before the first week back to school.

Beta to Alpha: When does school start back?

Alpha to Beta:

On finding out school indeed starts back tomorrow.

Beta to Alpha: Oh thank goodness for that. I think I need a holiday to recover from their summer holidays!

Good luck everyone!

  1. Haha! Very funny and so very true! The six weeks fly by and it’s leaving the homework to the last minute that is hard 🙂

  2. Haha I’ve really enjoyed that post. We have two and a half more weeks left here in Portugal but some of those situations could so be about my house!

  3. Emma says:

Haha! My little one starts school next week so I think I’m only just discovery all of this!! A snippet of what’s to come!

  4. Laura Dove says:

Hahah yes all of these! Right now I am thinking why the hell didnt I get organised sooner! I thought I was all done but realised I have no shirts for my eldest!

  5. Why do we as parents spend so much time chasing our kids to do their homework when we forget to do ours.

  6. This made me laugh, I so made the summer uniform comment haha.

  7. Ha ha!! I am definitely a beta mum, I always buy the uniform too big. Monkey starts back next week and apparently there is a heat wave coming. I am hoping the shorts from last term will still fit! xx

  8. They are everywhere, those Alphas … it’s almost like they go out of their way to annoy us! #DreamTeam

  9. Rosie Doal says:

This is hilarious. So so true in many ways. I literally laughed out loud. I love the excellent Giphys to match! #DreamTeam

  10. I love it and so true, we have a few alpha mums i am def a beta xx

  11. Laurie says:

Hilarious! Let me guess: who is Beta and who is Alpha! 😀

  12. Claire Rocks says:

These comments are so true! I have to admit i really dont know if im an alpha or beta parent! #DREAMTEAM

  13. Sophie says:

Omg that’s brilliant! Haha. I just love the term Beta parent tbh! Good luck to little button in her new class. #dreamteam

  14. This really did make me laugh – I’ve never heard of the beta parent but I am definetely at least in that category if there isnt a Zeta category 😉

  15. Haha. Very good. Love the gifs

  16. This made us chuckle, we’re going to be wearing summer uniform this week! eeeeeeek #DreamTeam

  19. This made me laugh and relatable X #dreamteam

  20. Denise says:

Haha! This did make me laugh but I must confess to only asking my ten-year-old if she had any homework two days before she returns to school and being brought a pile of it! #DreamTeam

  21. Claire says:

This made me laugh. My little one started reception today so I recognise bits of this #dreamteam

  27. Haha, I sent my little girl back to preschool this week in a uniform that is too small for her. But how was I to know she could grow that much in just 6 weeks. I had no idea. #dreamteam

  28. Dynamic Dad says:

Try doubling this across two households!

  29. Kirsty says:

Love it – all so true. I am going away this weekend and have had to do a print out of the schedule for everyone despite having said it at least 1000 times #DreamTeam

  30. Berni says:

hahaha very funny. Well done on making it out the other side. Enjoy the term time.#dreamteam

  31. Heather Keet says:

It shows tremendous strength and restraint that Alpha hasn’t throat punched Beta at least twice. #DreamTeam

  32. Funny but yet so true #dreamteam

  33. My husband has no idea on anything school related at all, just assumes I’m on top of it all. Then at 6pm the night before the return to school I remembered Matt had some homework. It took me an hour of searching before I found it and he did it in 5 minutes! #dreamteam

  34. Ha ha I relate ,small girl’s dad and I were still locked into a passive aggressive stalemate about who’s turn it was to buy the dreaded school shoes on the day before back to school, neither one wanting to back down knowing Clarke’s would be hell! #dreamteam

  35. Crummy Mummy says:

Very good! But infuriating too! #DreamTeam

  36. Amy - The Rolling Baby says:

Haha! I’m not at this point yet as I’ve got a one year old, but so many of these ring true from what I’ve heard from other parents #dreamteam

  37. Oh, Annette, this is hysterical and it is so spot on! Your giphy to words ratio: OUT OF THE PARK! Brilliant read and had me snort a little coffee this am! M’wah! #dreamteam
