*RUNS IN* I did it. My first ever authors event!!! And, it was at the iconic London South Bank as part of the Imagine Children’s Festival with Book Love; The Multicultural Book Carnival. #SOproud
*Nervous faces before the event. Don’t worry, it does get better haha!
The Imagine Children’s Festival is a yearly event that runs for the half term in February. It’s a lovely, fun-filled week of arts and culture with children’s theatre, comedy, music, literature, dance. We love it as there’s so much to see and do, and there are plenty of free and paid events to join in with. Yass!!! This year was a bit extra special as the Festival has turned 20 years old! #wow
I still can’t quite believe it. But here I am, on Monday 14th February *whispers…Valentine’s Day!! With my new book Me, in the Middle (Published by Owlet Press and Illustrated by Angela Mayers) for it’s very first outing.
Yes, I did awkwardly toddle around for a bit! As you do… especially if you’re me. But, Samantha from Book Love was just so joyful and welcoming, it was absolutely catching!
I even got to hang out with author’s Wendy Shearer and Desiree Bashi who were signing copies of their new books too.

Meeting and chatting to SO many lovely parents and their little ones, and signing books felt amazing. Thank you to everyone who stopped by! It was wonderful to meet you all, and I was touched to hear so many shared experiences of families wanting to celebrate their roots and explore their family trees.
Seeing advance copies of Me, in the Middle walking out the door clutched by little arms…. well….. I’m not sure what beats that! *Heart melts.
Book Love is a beautiful online book store that also travels the country with an exciting collection of multicultural and inclusive titles. Their mission is to revolutionise the landscape of literature for the better, celebrating and embracing diversity.
“We get everyone excited about each others’ cultural heritage, hoping to create a better understanding of one another, a love for self and a boosting of esteem, which is second to none.
Through reading, learning and cultural sharing, we can aim to build a more cohesive and understanding society where we are less suspicious of each other – a place built on unity, peace and of course booklove!
Our children and young people deserve nothing less!”
Please do check them out! They have a humongous online store, with so many inspiring titles.
