We have just spent the most glorious autumn day out at Odds Farm Park in High Wycombe. Have you been? It really is one of those places that the little ones can let their hair down and just run free. Perfect if you have a little adventurer on your hands like us.
There is so much to do and see at Odds Farm Park, so we didn’t get a chance to do everything. I always think that this is great though, as it means there will be extra value in a second visit. Here are some of the highlights from our day.
You can’t go to the farm without feeding the animals right? Don’t worry, Odds Farm Park have got it covered. And I really mean covered in all senses of the word. Whatever the weather your little ones will be able to grab a bag of food from the main reception and head over to the warm barn to hand feed the animals. So exciting!
There is a programme of activities available every day ranging from egg collecting to meeting the baby animals. I didn’t expect to be able to get involved as much as this, which was a lovely surprise. If you like to plan ahead, there is a chart here where you can see what will be happening at different times of the year.
As part of the indoor activities, there was an opportunity to meet the rabbits. A number of baby rabbits were placed on special tables, low enough for little fingers to reach, and tiddlers were encouraged to give them a stroke. These type of activities can get a bit busy, but they are kept out long enough for everyone to have a comfortable turn. I was so busy ooggling the bunnies that for a second I forgot that I was a blogger and didn’t take any photos! Opps. But trust me, you will love it.
We made a pit stop for an early lunch at the brand new Marmalade’s Tea Rooms. A far cry from the typical cafés that you find at attractions, this one is super swanky and well stocked with both adults and little ones favourites. Little Button made a beeline for the children’s lunch selection. There were plenty of choices to be made by her, so while she pondered, we eyed up the menu for some steaming hot comfort food. Yum.
There are so many areas to sit in the café, including places right by the soft play, but we settled into a cosy nook with big squishy chairs. Lovely.
Just as we were going to have a look at the outdoor paddocks, Little Button spotted an enormous outdoor play area. I don’t think I have ever seen such a huge variety of play equipment at a farm before. There was just about everything to keep children of all ages happily entertained for hours.
By far, the sand and water play area was her favourite, and we had quite a job of getting her to leave it for a bit to venture further afield to see more animals.
When we did finally manage to get Little Button to leave the play area, we had a great time looking at all the animals. We even had a go on the tractor ride, which takes you into the fields to get that much closer to nature.
Something very noticeable was that all the animals were happy. We love how Odds Farm Park keep them in big open spaces.
As part of the run up to Halloween, Odds Farm Park have a spooktastic area set up for pumpkin carving during October. I think Mr Button had the most fun making this!
We all had a great time and will be planning a return visit to Odds Farm Park soon. It’s a good full day out if visiting for the first time, and there are a number of undercover areas to keep your little ones warm and entertained during any drizzly spots of weather. Also worth noting are their excellent toilet facilities. Probably the best I have seen. It might seem like an odd thing to mention, but bad facilities really put me off attractions.
