It’s no secret that I’m not great when it comes to scary movies. I’m fine with a bit of boo, arrhhh and the occasional jump. But anything freaky scary will inevitably have me screaming for Mr Button to come stand outside the loo incase the Candyman decides to eat me while I’m in there.
Anyway. I’m usually a quivering wreck when it comes to switching on the TV after dark in October. But luckily this year there are some fab finds that won’t have you losing your popcorn or your voice. Here’s what we are watching this Halloween.

Hotel Transylvania 1 & 2 are Little Buttons favourite movies at the moment. She loved watching them over Halloween last year too, but since the 3rd movie came out at the cinema over the summer, she’s enjoying them even more. We love how the movies very cleverly introduce the theme of everyone getting along no matter what side of the fence you are from. And, with a toe tapping soundtrack and funny bits for the grown ups, they are a perfect watch for the whole family.
She’s also been enjoying watching these fab Netflix finds in the lead up to Halloween.
Super Monsters Save Halloween – move
Regal Academy – series
Gnome Alone – movie
A Witches Ball – move
Strictly Come Dancing is renowned for putting on the best Halloween show of the year. We’ve already watched all the celebs in action and of course the pro’s dance number. #exciting #halloweengoals
Who did you vote for?
A Monster smash! We loved @DrRanj and @JManrara‘s Jive, fur real 😍👏 #Strictly pic.twitter.com/sidrikHHen

The BBC’s The Cry is literally all parents worst nightmare. Period. It’s intense, fractured and as each episode goes on, it leaves you with that dreadful feeling in the pit of your stomach that something isn’t quite right. It’s a great watch for when you want something intelligent with substance. And, the whole lot is available on the BBC iplayer right now.
The Twilight Saga is 10 years old. Can you believe that?! 10 years old. I remember going to see Twilight for the first time at the cinema with Mr Button like it was just yesterday. I hadn’t heard of the books at that point and was expecting a typical scary vampire movie watch for Halloween. Except I came away grinning from ear to ear like a cheshire cat rather than being scared witless for a change! #Win #GuiltyPleasure -The boxset is ready to go as we speak! I just need to press play.
We’ve been counting down the days to when Riverdale would be back! And back it is. It’s a little bit darker, but the beefy storyline will have you hooked and cheering for your favourite characters.
If you’re feeling a bit braver, how about trying the new and rebooted Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (the teenage witch – for anyone who remembers!). It looks pretty dark and sinister… a far cry from the jokey teen series staring Melissa Joan Hart that I used to love back in the day. I’ve read a mixed bag of reviews on this one, but yet to watch it myself. I’ll give it a go if you will? Come back later in the week and we can swap notes 🙂
So. I’m just going to throw it our there. The haunting of hill house. Ekk!! I know it sounds blinking scary and I suppose it is jumpy in places. But actually, this has a super gripping storyline that isn’t as terrifying as the media is currently making it out to be (in my opinion). I loved it. And, put it this way… I’m the biggest scaredy cat and I managed to watch the whole series without putting my hands over my eyes or flinging the popcorn in the air.
Whatever you watch this Halloween, make it a good one!
Can’t believe Twilight is 10 years old! Started watching Sabrina this evening, turned it off after ten minutes…too scary, ha!! xxx
I too have Twilight as a guilty pleasure. They are actually really well written! Happy Halloween.

I have always loved the twilight series nothing to do with Kristen haha! Great choices thanks for hosting #dreamteam
I love a good Halloween movie. Twilight isnt my thing. But I love the kiddie movies on the list.
I’m not sure that we will be watching anything scary this Halloween. My little girl announced this week that she doesn’t like pumpkins (she was scared in Manchester last week), so maybe we will play it safe this year! #DreamTeam
I am awful at scary films, think I can manage the kids ones hahah I do love the kids haloween specials and glad mine are still at an age to watch them #dreamteam
I love the GIFS! Haha. We love the Hotel Transylvania films here. I can be a bit of a wuss when it comes to scary stuff, But I hear the Haunting of Hill House is brilliant.
I love cuddling up on the sofa and watching a good film with lots of munches so I’ll definitely be checking out some of these. I never thought I’d like twilight but turns out I love it. Lol
I’ve just been hearing from my friend today how great The Cry is and we’ve just started Sabrina!
Love them – except Strictly… for some reason. But definitely The Haunting of Hill House is good and Sabrina is good too. Twilight – definitely a favourite and also Krampus is a good Christmas-Halloween movie. 🙂 #DreamTeam
I am so excited to watch The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina but haven’t had the time yet! #dreamteam
I’m a scaredy cat, but love thrillers – so I’ll be watching Riverdale! #DreamTeam
Love those Hotel Transylvania movies! I have taken my grandchildren to all of them. So much fun!
I’m in the same boat, scary movies aren’t my favorite. But I LOVE Riverdale and Twilight. I just started watching Riverdale like 2 weeks ago on Netflix and I am absolutely hooked!
Not heard of most of these and as the children are always wanting movie nights great to have some recommendations #DreamTeam
I have seen Hill House advertised. Don’t think I can handle it. #dreamteam
I started Sabrina last week and hill house. On the not horror side Condor is good. It’s ok universal channel in UK
I’ve only still seen the first twilight, I really want to watch the others. #DreamTeam
Hotel translavenia is a brilliant film for all the family X #dreamteam
Something for just about everyone there!!Hours of thrills and jumps #DreamTeam
Hi, the Strictly Halloween is our favourite of the series. We are going to watch Ghostbusters tonight #dreamteam
I like a scary film but I think they go a bit far these days. I’ve got the Cry on record to watch and can’t wait to get started x
OK, about Sabrina – I’m 3 episodes in and it feels like my childhood is being defiled. I can see how a newer generation could warm to it but I’m just hate-watching it at this point! It definitely is spookier/darker as you mentioned so it’s good for getting into the Halloween mood I guess!
Oh I am no good either when it comes to Halloween – I am scared of my own shadow!! The Strictly Halloween show was definitely my highlight – I loved Giovanni and Faye’s theatre jazz performance. Absolutely amazing! And also Kevin and Stacey’s Dr. Who routine – Go Stacey for taking the lead! I also recorded Hotel Transylvania for my two little duckies and they loved it. Happy Halloween! #DreamTeam
I’m not a fan of scary movies either – the Strictly idea is great! #DreamTeam
I’ve spotted Sabrina on Netflix but wasn’t sure if it was the same one – will give it a try. Not sure I can bring myself to watch Hill House even though I am tempted by all the good reviews about the storyline!
Hotel Transylvania for the entire family and I love Strictly Come Dancing #dreamteam
My nieces are in love with Hotel Transylvania and watch it all the time! #DreamTeam
I am such a scaredy cat I have always steered clear of all scary movies. Kids films are more my speed! #DreamTeam
I loved the cry. The Haunting of Hill House I will stay well , well away from. Everything I’ve read about it makes me realise it will be WAY too scary for me #DreamTeam
Haha, I also hate scary movies but I think I might be able to manage one or two of these! Strictly would be my number one choice in the list 😀 #dreamteam
