It’s that time of year when I start thinking about our holidays for next year. I always do. Because as soon as the chilly weather sets in, all I have on my mind is the sunshine and looking for the best possible places to go seek it. There’s something so delicious about soaking it all up. I’m not a sun worshiper by any means. But the sun always has us smiling ridiculas goofy smiles – and I like it!
At the moment I’ve got a few places to visit on the cards right now for next year. Disneyland Paris (for Little Button), Ireland and Cyprus to name a few. But you’ll be surprised when I tell you where our best holiday ever was! And why I’m hoping to re create some of that magic in 2019.
So… our best holiday ever was in the UK. In Wales! Nope. I am not joking at all. We actually stayed at a resort called Bluestone in Pembrokeshire – a top secret haunt amongst us parents. And, for a long time I couldn’t quite put my finger on what made the holiday so special. But looking back, it’s clear.
It was time.
Time to sit back and enjoy taking in new surroundings.
Together time.
Outdoors time.
Time to challenge our fears.
And realise that actually the adventure along the way is everything.
Time to embrace nature. Up close.
And… at a distance.
Time to just be.
This is the stuff that the best holidays are made of.
This post is a competition entry to win an incredible Tanzanian Safari with Yellow Zebra Safaris. Did you know that family safaris are a thing! I’d always thought of them as something just for the grown ups. But actually, little adventurers can also go on a safari holiday of a lifetime with specialists, such as Yellow Zebra Safaris. Now that’s a complete game changer! Our dream holiday has always been to go on a family safari holiday to show Little Button just how beautiful the world can be. We just hadn’t realised that this is something we may be able to do sooner than we thought!
Ah we loved it there too! Its so hard to choose just one holiday, but if I HAD to it would be our holiday at eurocamp this summer. It was AMAZING!
That looks so beautiful, the beach is gorgeous and so is that forest! I would like to go somewhere like Croatia one day, it looks like a lovely country.
Ahhh it does look like you had an amazing time on all fronts sometimes we don’t even need to leave he country to have our best holiday do we?
I love Pembrokeshire but have never stayed at Bluestone. It looks like a fabulous place to stay, Might have to consider it for a little break next year x
I love Pembrokeshire – we’ve had some amazing times at a family caravan in Tenby. These are some stunning photos that really capture the essence of the place. Looks like you and your family had a great time.
Pembrokeshire looks lovely! I love the fact that a lot of your time was spent outdoors. also, the marshmallows with melted chocolate are a real winner with me xx
That looks lovely! Those s’mores look great!! My favourite place is America but I struggle picking my favourite place…san Francisco or Orlando probably. My next trip is to Disneyland Paris for a few days on Saturday – our first family holiday. I hope we enjoy it as much!
I’m not sure what I would pick as our best holiday ever. Before we had kids, definitely Japan. Or Iceland. Ooh, see, even then I can’t decide. With the kids, I really enjoyed NYC. But I think my favourite family holidays was to Gothenburg. Now that my eldest is in school and holidays cost twice as much as we are bound to the school dates, we’ve been doing more holidays closer to home.
Such lovely photos! What a gorgeous family you have! OMG the smore looks SO good!!!!
I’ve heard so many good things about Bluestones, it sounds like such a fab holiday!

Ahhh.. Nature walks with the family is always awesome. Lovely photos there!
