Opps… I’m not sure how it’s happened, but it’s been ages since I last did a Five Fab Things post. There’s definitely been loads of fab things going on, but they’ve completely got away from me. Inspired by Lydia’s round up posts, and also the want to record the whimsical to the practical, I’m hoping to bring Five Fab Things back more regularly.
I fear that I’ve been completely ruined by watching the new season of Netflix’s Bridgerton *swoon!!! Nothing else is like it. Has anyone seen it? If you haven’t, then I would definitely recommend it. And if you have, what did you watch next? *Because I can’t find anything that can beat that level of longing looks and romance.

And… speaking of swooning, I was head over heels in love the moment that I spotted The Little Bookstall’s Instagram reel for my picture book Me, in the Middle. *Play it with the sound on – oh my heart. You’ve probably heard me mentioning Owlet Press quite a bit as they are my publishers for WILD and Me, in the Middle. Up until now they have been solely publishing children’s picture books, but, in a new development they are launching a children’s chapter book division. Yay!!! But, wait for it… they are starting with the biggest of bangs EVER, having signed none other than McFly’s Dougie Poynter!!! I know, right?!!!!!!!!!! How amazing is that.

We’re super excited for his new book The Whale Watchers, which is being illustrated by Amberin Huq. And also secretly hoping ALL the Owlet Press Authors and Illustrators will be invited to his launch party!
It’s true. You never really stop learning more about your craft right? I’m actually pretty excited about finally managing to carve out a bit of me-time to get started on the new Julia Donaldson’s writing children’s picture books course. It looks so engaging and you know, what better way to refine your skills than via the master herself (*online. Recorded, not in person!! I mean.. can you imagine if it was!). I’ll let you know how it goes, for anyone who might be interested in giving it a try too. Cost: £80 – but keep an eye out for the special deals which do come up.
At the moment Dawn (Rhyming with Wine blog and co-author of WILD) and I are working on a new project. I’m SO excited about it, but sometimes the thrill of writing something new can become really overwhelming and I have no idea where to start. This super cute quote from Clare at @okay_doodle is a perfect reminder that actually, why not start anywhere.
