Just when I thought I’d seen it all, YULU have only gone and topped the doll market with something completely fresh, edgy and unexpected. The #SNAPSTARS squad of social media influencer dolls! I know right? They sound quite different from the type of dolls we used to play with growing up. However, I was assured by Little Button that I’m ‘a bit old’ and these dolls are indeed very very awesome, and, that you take pictures of them on your phone! *At which point I had no idea how she knew this, as we hadn’t even opened the box yet!
Little Button was very excited to have received her own #SNAPSTARS influencer box and couldn’t wait to get inside. In keeping with the theme, the packaging gave us a glimpse of all the different dolls to collect, and admittedly, were quite different from what I originally expected. The #SNAPSTARS squad is made up of 6 striking dolls who are bursting at the seams with talent from the exciting worlds of fashion, beauty, music, travel, photography and design. Whilst they may be the ultimate social media queens, there’s a lot more going on under the surface, with each doll having its own unique personality that’s cleverly reflected in their detailed outfits and accessories.
Inside our box were two dolls and two accessories packs. The boxes the dolls came in looked like oversized mobile phone packaging, and sturdy as they come. Great for all sorts of reasons, including storage! Thrilled, Little Button revealed she had Aspen (the one that could be a travel blogger – and the specific one she had wanted) and Izzy (the one that could be the Eco / crafter blogger).
I think Little Button would quite fancy being a travel blogger given half the chance, just like Aspen! This #SNAPSTAR doll comes fully dressed in a 2-piece boho outfit, complete with pink boots, a gorgeous handbag and of course, her mobile phone for taking all those Instagram photos on from her travels. Looking a bit closer, we found that Aspen has a removable hairstyle (wig), which goes from long luscious locks, to a short pixie cut (painted on). How cute! The detail in this doll is quite unexpected, especially her eyes, which look beautiful. Little Button also noted that Aspen has make up on!

Next up to unbox was Izzy. As like Aspen in so many ways, Izzy comes fully dressed in a vintage outfit, white boots, a slouchy purple bag and of course, that all important phone for snapping all her crafty makes with. Her super-cute fringed bunches (wig) can be whipped off to reveal a sleeker cut (painted on), or indeed switched entirely with another dolls hairstyle (wig)! Little Button was very impressed with Izzy’s laid back, but ‘made up’ styling.

In addition to the 2 dolls we unboxed are:
Lola – 99% Unicorn! Lola is a ball of positive energy who sees the best in everyone and the beauty in everything! Although Lola is passionate about changing the world for the better, she believes kindness is the key.
Dawn – Fashion Diva! Dawn is a high-powered, high-fashion diva who only settles for the best – she knows what she wants and always gets it! Want to know where the party is? Call Dawn!
Yuki – #turnUP! Yuki is a feisty chick who marches to her own beat! She is a music enthusiast always cranking out the hottest EDM tracks. When Yuki isn’t in the studio she is booked solid DJing parties all over town; and she’s always sure to get her girls on the VIP list!
Echo – Bedazzled Babe Echo is a dreamy damsel who floats through life with an easy-breezy outlook. Although she embodies the shimmering grace of a mermaid, she is never a “fish out of water”.
Along with the two dolls, Little Button also received two accessory packs. Inside each of these was a complete outfit change with accessories. Part of playing with dolls is the inevitable outfit swaps, so I’m very pleased to see that these can be bought independently from the dolls.
Now, not all dolls are made equally, as it turns out, because the #SNAPSTAR dolls have a little secret up their sleeves. They have 15 points of articulation! 15! In fact, it was the first thing that Little Button noticed about them. They are brilliantly flexible meaning that they can quite literally ‘strike a pose’ and make it look as easy as pie. Tucked under each dolls packaging inside their box is a doll stand to keep them on their feet for their photoshoots, as well as a green screen studio backdrop (card).
Extending play value to the screen is the free to download #SNAPSTARS app. This is compatible on devices with the Apple app store or Google play access. Used with adult supervision, this is a brilliant way of unleashing the inner photographer in your little one.
In the app, and using the green screen studio backdrop, little ones can take snaps of their #SNAPSTAR dolls. Then on-screen, customise the background, accessories, hair, make up and eye colour and shape of their dolls. How fun is that!
From a parents point of view I was pleasantly surprised by the #SNAPSTARS app. The app is completely free and as safe as apps go. It was easy to use, so I didn’t have to over supervise whilst Little Button was playing with it. And, there wasn’t a way for her to click off and into something she shouldn’t be looking at. #Winning.
Little Button is super pleased with her #SNAPSTAR dolls. She loves how fashionable they look, and especially likes the detailing in their clothes and accessories. Being so posable, because of their 15 points of articulations makes them very easy to play with, especially when creating fashion shoots with the green screen studio. Or, even using them as models to draw from!
