Happy New Year everyone! We hope you’ve all had a lovely holiday, despite everything going a bit covid-pear-shaped last second dot com. Gulp.
We had a teeny weeny Tier 4 Button Christmas at home, but you know what, I actually liked it. It’s been a very difficult few weeks, and we’d like to give a HUGE heart felt shout-out (at the very top of our voices in the best possible way) to the NHS for being just so amazing (especially the paramedics) with Great Grandad, Great Nanny and Nanny Button. Thanks a million – to the moon and back again! No words will ever be enough.
So, it’s that time of year when everyone starts setting these fantastic health and personal goals isn’t it? Social media is swimming in it. Literally. And whilst I think it’s amazing that everyone is so motivated to climb mountains this year. I’m not feeling quite so eager to set myself a whole heap of tasks and go goal sprinting through them – well, not just yet anyway.
If you’re in the same boat as me, it’s fine. Honesty. Because taking things one day at a time this New Year is more than good enough. Even Miranda Hart thinks so!
The main thing is to go with what makes you happy. Right now, the last thing we need is to feel pressured by our own goals. Instead, keep things light, achievable and always be kind to yourself.
Here are a few ‘one day at a time’ ideas:
Happy new year! These are all fab ideas – although the steaming hot tea elludes me at the moment with the baby! #mischiefandmemories
I do want to live in The NOW more faithfully than I have in the past.
Great and achievable ideas. I need then as I find too many days with hours to fill now my teens want to do their own thing a lot or are caught up with education and my brother runs his business. At times like this I miss my husband which is daft as better for both of us to be apart. Looking forward to trying out these ideas with the new man when the time comes. #MischiefandMemories
I enjoy a steaming hot cup of tea daily since it’s my hot beverage of choice. Last night I finally watched a movie that was on my playlist. Being kind as you can see in my latest post is what I’m about. It’s the only way to be in this crazy world. We need more kindness and we need to be intentional about being kind. Great post filled with wonderful ideas that are easy to implement.

There are some really good tips here and yes, we do need to take one day at a time and there are small steps we can take to get through it. Cooking and trying new recipes has definitely become an outlet for me. #MischiefAndMemories
I love all these practical tips and ideas. My year did not start the way I had planned and we are now sitting in hospital with our youngest (3) for the next 5 weeks, already being here since the 23rd of December. So taking one day at a time is exactly what I am doing, otherwise I would probably be going stark raving mad 🙂 – I write this from the hospital room. So glad to find this linky right now! Thank you. #MischiefandMemories
Happy new year! I thought one of your suggestions was ‘drink an extra glass of wine a day’, ha! Definitely easing into things in January and trying to create a great landscape for the rest of the year. #MischiefAndMemories
Happy New Year! Great ideas, sitting down and to watch a movie or too even in the middle of the afternoon! Oooh and maybe take a bath rather than a 5 minute shower would be something I have not done in years! sending love xx

Love these ideas. I’ve been trying to write so e letters and am on a mini declutter spree one cupboard at a time!! #mischiefandmemories
I love these ideas! I think any goals however small are worth having as a point of focus. On many days at the moment even having that hot cup of tea is a goal I may not achieve and that is ok 🙂 #MischiefandMemories
That’s the way we are going as well… if it doesn’t get achieved, it’s fine. But great to have little things to look forward to through the day 🙂
Whilst clearing my desk last weekend to find a notebook to write some goals for 2021, I found the page of goals from last year and hadn’t done a single one! I felt bad at first then thought of all the things I DID achieve over the year, yay me! #MischiefAndMemories
I have written a similar post to this, but your ideas seem so much better than mine, Annette #meyhemandmischief@_karendennis
Thanks Karen! I’m sure your ideas are brilliant
Great ideas, thanks for sharing #mischief and memories @_karendennis
