Do you forget to take time out to relax? Me too! It shouldn’t be a thing really, should it?
But, like many parents, any glimmer of ‘down time’ often gets eaten up by gorgeous little ones (willingly of course), all the stuff that goes along with having little ones, family stuff, work, and then just life and all it’s chores in general. I’m tired just thinking about it all.
By the time ‘down time’ rolls around in the Button house, I’m usually falling asleep mid-finishing something off for the next day. Busy, busy busy… always busy. But not anymore.
The first National (Covid-19) Lockdown has taught me how important it is to make sure you DO get proper time to relax, or you’ll feel that burn-out the hard way when it turns your way. Whether it’s on your own, with your family, with a book or the TV on in the background, time to relax is invaluable to set you up for a positive day.
Like Kirsty from Navigating Baby, I do LOVE a good quote. Printing or writing one out and sticking it up in a noticeable place, such as on the fridge, can often be a brilliant reminder.
So, here are some of my favourite positive quotes to remind me to relax. I hope they work for you too.
“For fast-acting relief, try slowing down.” – Lily Tomlin
“The more relaxed you are, the better you are at everything: the better you are with your loved ones, the better you are with your enemies, the better you are at your job, the better you are with yourself.” – Bill Murray
“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.” – Lao Tzu
“The only time I waste is time I spend doing something that, in my gut, I know I shouldn’t. If I choose to spend time playing video games or sleeping in, then it’s time well spent, because I chose to do it. I did it for a reason – to relax, to decompress, or to feel good, and that was what I wanted to do.” – Simon Sinek
“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes…including you.” – Anne Lamott
“I’ve decided to be happy because it is good for my health.” – Voltaire
“Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax.” – Mark Black
“In this game, everyone needs a break to refuel, recharge, and jump back in full throttle.” – Helen Edwards
“Your calm mind is the ultimate weapon against your challenges. So relax.” – Bryant McGill
“Calm mind brings inner strength and self-confidence, so that’s very important for good health.” – Dalai Lama
“If you relax your mind, it can begin working for you.” – Bryant McGill
“Ah! There is nothing like staying at home, for real comfort.” – Jane Austen
I do love home, and being outside on our wooded paths. I guess this is one positive outcome of this season…

Thanks for the reminder, it’s too easy to be busy rushing, and these are great quotes to remind people to slow down
A bath and a good book with a cup of tea are my treats! #Dreamteam (and an audio book in the car takes all the stress out of traffic)
A lot of good advice here. Mine is old enough now that I can leave her alone for 45 minutes or so at a time and talk a nice, long walk. Its something I do often #dreamteam
These are just what I need right now! I definitely enjoyed slowing down during the first lockdown and not having to rush anywhere #DreamTeam
These are very inspirational and just what we need right now! #DreamTeamLinky
I love these quotes, in fact I love quotes in general. I think a good one can have such a positive impact on us.
Thank you for sharing x x
I like the staying at home one!How apt for right now. We need that reminder when home for a long winter!!
That Jane Austen quote is so true – I never feel true comfort unless I am home! A great selection of quotes and a welcome reminder to relax.
Relax? What’s that? Lol. Love a good Jane Austen quote though.
