We originally made these Rice Krispies Love Monsters for Halloween. But, they are just SO cute that they would work well all year round. And, they require very little work, unless you opt to make the Rice Krispies base yourself. Enjoy!
Makes 8 Love Monsters.
You will need:
8 drinking straws
1 pack of Rice Krispies Squares – Marshmallow
1 pack of Rice Krispies Squares – Chocolatey
1 bar of white chocolate (to melt)
Food colouring (we used blue)
Icing sugar
Milk Chocolate chips
Sprinkles
Step 1
Open up the Rice Krispies Squares and gently push 1 drinking straw into each one. So in effect, you have a Rice Krispies Square on a stick. We found that the marshmallow ones work best for little fingers as there is a bit more give than the chocolate ones.
Step 2
Next, melt the white chocolate until gloopy. We did this by zapping it in the microwave for 10 seconds at a time. Once ready, add a dash of food colouring of your choice and blend.
Step 3
Quickly coat the top end of your Love Monster in the coloured chocolate. Ours set much faster than expected so be prepared to be speedy.
Step 4
Mix a little icing sugar with water, and dollop on two Love Monster eye whites wherever you fancy! Then, drop on a milk chocolate chip into the centre of the eye white to complete your Love Monster’s eyeballs. We did this because at the time is was impossible to get hold of any of the premade edible eyeballs.
Step 5
Decorate your Love Monsters with sprinkles and you can use the rest of the milk chocolate chips to make smiley faces.
Ta-Dah!!! Admittedly they taste amazing, and we’ll definitely be looking at how we can adapt these for Christmas.
