After having way too much fun playing with Poopsie Slime Surprise last month, Little Button has been asking for a Poopsie Unicorn for Christmas. Every. Single. Day. And I’m not surprised at all. The slime was infectiously giggle-some and something that we have all enjoyed! The unicorn is a major part of the Poopsie collectable range, so it made sense to get it on the wish list quick as I can imagine these will go like hotcakes.
But, as it turned out, the Christmas elves were listening and Little Button was very lucky to get her hands on her own Poopsie Unicorn Slime Surprise. Just in time to give it a spin before Christmas to let you know what it’s like!
*If you’re not familiar with the Poopsie range, in essence, it’s a collectable slime making kit full of character! Just wait and see…. hehe!
Poopsie Unicorn Slime Surprise comes in a pretty big box. And just like the single packs of slime surprise the opening is epic! There is a layer to ‘peel to reveal’ lots of surprises tucked into the packaging.
With the final reveal being the unicorn itself. Little Button had been crossing her fingers (and toes) for Oopsie Starlight, so was thrilled to see her peeking out of the box.
Isn’t she gorgeous! I hadn’t expected the unicorn to be as big and substantial as this. It’s easy to see that a lot of care and detail has gone into its creation. From the eyelashes, sparkly detailing and the iridescent pearly skin. It’s all there.
Here is the bundle of what was inside the box.
*That’s a lot of opening, making this a brilliant gift.
The idea behind Poopsie unicorn is that when fed, it will create and then poop a collectable slime into it’s potty. #slimegoals
In theory this sounded like it would be a piece of cake, but seeing the instructions for the first time did get me a little worried. They were too complicated for Little Button to read and follow on her own, but with a bit of help she was able to work through each of the steps. This is a toy which requires grown up supervision, especially on the first go.
We followed the instructions very carefully, feeding the Poopsie unicorn as instructed. First with the glitter, then water, and finally slurps from the bottle. Except it all seemed to go wrong. Nothing seemed to stay in and she leaked from both ends right away.
We managed to save about half the slime from ‘take one’ and within about 10 minutes or so it had firmed up into a decent slime. Slime 5/10 (because half was missing). Pooping action 0/10.
Before trying again I opened up the back to give it a good clean. I want to give the creators a giant mummy high-five for making this bit so easy. Thank you!! We’ve had toys in the past from other brands that were so difficult to clean that they just don’t get played with anymore. Easy cleaning makes all the difference.
So anyway. We tried again. This time making sure that the Poopsie unicorn had its belly button sticking out and the feeding switch correctly in place… or so we thought.
It was looking good… but no! Oopsie Starlight vomited the slime! Grooosssss!!!!
But all was not lost. This was the best slime we had made so far. After waiting about 10 minutes it looked full and amazing. #GoSlime 10/10. Pooping action 0/10.
Clearly we were doing something wrong! So I dived in to check out the (very simple) mechanics by opening up the back and pushing all the buttons (with Poopsie unicorn empty).
And yes. That was it. What had been happening was that the switch hadn’t been fully locked into place to begin with. To get a feel for this, turn your unicorn upside down with the back open. Then flip the switch. You should be able to see the food tunnel open or closed dependant on the switch being fully engaged.
Next, the belly button issue. If it accidentally gets popped in mid-feed, popping it back out on its own won’t help. You have to reset this properly by taking out the plastic container and then putting in back in. With it empty, try pushing the belly button and you can see that it triggers the container to free flow (the poopsie unicorn to poop) if in place correctly to begin with.
So…. take three? It was a huge success! We did everything the same but with the switch and belly button all correctly set. And….. she pooped like a charm!
Whoop whoop! We both danced around the kitchen in glee. Because this time, it was blinking brilliant.
We had a full slime 10/10. And the pooping action worked just as it should 10/10.
I was initially a bit worried. First when I saw the instructions. And then when the unicorn wasn’t pooping as it should. However, Little Button never lost faith. Insisting we must be doing it wrong. Which we were. And thank goodness we didn’t give up, because getting it right was so worth the wait. It’s fun, even more naughty than the Poopsie Slime Surprise we tried before, and Oopsie Starlight is simply gorgeous!
When I asked Little Button what she thought she gave it a million out of 10! Then promptly asked for another one for Christmas!
