Ahhhhh!!!! We’ve been waiting for a new doggie book to add to our collection. And, the Biggest Dog In The Book did not disappoint.

The Biggest Dog in the Book by Ben Lerwill and Mark Chambers

The story starts off with Agnes, a teeny tiny Chihuahua, who likes cuddles, cushions, and going on walks. But, she is NOT the biggest dog in the book. So who is?

Little readers get to go on a walk with Agnes, where she is joined by lots of dog friends along the way. And, they keep getting bigger, and bigger! They journey down the street, into the park and over the stream, all in search of the biggest dog in the book.

We love the gentle repetition, as each new friend is introduced. And, we were thrilled to see that the dog breeds were included, from Popcorn the Beagle and Poncho the Dalmatian to Mr Alphonso the Labrador and Valentine the German Shepherd. This is a fab little extra, that adds another layer of fun learning.

The story sounds delightful read out loud, and makes for a strong all-rounder that can be read anytime, any place! It’s bouncy and fun, with gorgeous little details about the dogs personalities. We especially love Shelby the dog who is just brilliant, and so relatable, especially when we think of our little Charlie…

The illustrations in this book are stunning, comical and so full of life. They really capture the spirit and energy of each dog so beautifully! If you’re a fan of Hairy Maclary, you will LOVE The Biggest Dog In The Book by Ben Lerwill and Mark Chambers.
