Nothing says summer more than a refresh of your living room. From a splash of colour to a complete overhaul (oohhh lucky you!), every little bit helps when it comes to creating a relaxing and welcoming environment. At this very moment we are in the midst of doing work on our house, and one of my key niggling areas that really needs re-furnishing is our living room. When we moved in we brought along bits and pieces of furniture that we already had. Throw in a few inherited items into the mix and nothing looks quite as I would like it to.
I am leaving Mr Button to organise all the major building type jobs that need to be done, which means that I can focus on the things that will really bring our spaces alive and ultimately create our ‘home’.
It’s hard to stay focused on one clear idea when there are so many wonderful soft furnishing styles to choose from. I find it helps to make a list of what you use the space for as a starting point. Here’s how I got on:
Not asking for much am I.
Hopefully after making your list and reading it back to yourself, you should have a clearer idea of the type of style that would best suit the needs of your space. So, for us I think it’s all about comfort. Think big squashy places to sit, nice lighting, something a bit fun, family and inspirational on the walls and yes, something to make the TV look great.
Here are some of my favourite summer living room top picks.
As soon as I saw this gorgeous set I knew it would be perfect for us. It is definitely a sink in and get comfortable type of sofa, but it also looks super stylish too. I can see myself having snuggles with Little Button here during the day, then lounging with my feet up blogging, chatting and watching movies with Mr Button in the evenings.
Nothing says summer more than some new bright scatter cushions in feel-good colours. I love how these would instantly add a seasonal twist to the living room.
Our Just For Tiny People Magical Teepee is a fab hideaway for Little Button to play in. She can get lost in her own world of make-believe whilst I am right there with her without intruding (hopefully whilst lounging on my indulgent sofa very soon). The icing on the cake would be this lovely Teepee Plumfy cushion, which could also double up as another lovely place to sit.
Ok, so the TV is just one part of the living room, but if I am completely honest, apart from blogging, watching movies is my other indulgence. I think this unit would look amazing and would be great for hiding our boxes and cables.
These pretty doodles would look lovely as a series of framed prints and add a homely touch to our living room.
No summer living room refresh would be complete without some funky lighting. I think that this floor lamp would be a fantastic statement piece and would set off my furniture top picks beautifully.
What do you think of my summer living room inspiration mood board?
Are there any pieces that take your fancy?
