We’re planning to have our own family Halloween party at home this year. I’ve seen some great Halloween decorations in the shops, but how fun is it to make your own! I always think they look much cuter in that wonky / eye ball is now falling off way. Spiders are my absolute nemesis so I thought why not make our own spiders and make them as darn cute as possible to keep away those spider chills. Here’s how to make BOO-TASTIC Halloween spiders.
These are going to be super easy (but messy) to make.
You will need (things you most likely already have *phew)
4 empty toilet rolls to make 4 BOO-TASTIC Halloween spiders
Black paint (YASS – I know… black paint. Ekk!!!)
Googley eye balls
A bit of sparkle (optional)
Glue
Step 1
Draw a line around the top part of each toilet roll (that small bit will be the spiders body).
Step 2 (Is a bit tricky for little hands)
Once you have your guideline, cut up to the line until you have eight spider legs. To make them more spider-like, we thinned each leg out by making additional cuts and removing the excess toilet roll. Little Button (7 years old) did this herself, but younger hands will need help. Repeat for all 4 spiders.
Step 3
Bend the legs of each spider to give them a bit of BOO!
Step 4
Paint your spiders black (inside and out) and leave to dry overnight. *Don’t forget that black paint is super messy! Always cover tables and get your little one to wear old clothes and/or apron up.
Step 5
Stick on the googley eye balls and bedazzle your spiders legs.
Step 6
Turn your BOO-TASTIC Halloween spiders into decorations by hanging them with thread.
We’ve decided not to scare our neighbours with these (hehe!) and have taken our BOO-TASTIC Halloween spiders inside to chill-out on our window ledges ready for the party.
They look great. Lots of fun to make too.
Thank you!
Very cute! #Dreamteam
Thanks
I love them and what good fun #dreamteam
Thank you
I love the mess and the reality of your crafting – as it should be if you ask me rather than picture perfect boring-ness #DreamTeam
We have made these before for Halloween. I actually find pre-painting the loo roll easiest and leaving them to dry, but probably only because it saves time with lots of children. I do like crafts that use up throw away items. #DreamTeam
These look particularly good against the outside foliage: hope it doesn’t rain on Halloween night!! #DreamTeam
Home made decorations are the best especially if you reuse them every year. I have some my girls made years ago and they are treasured!
These are so cute x
I bet my Little Man would love making these, we could hang them outside along with the real ones 🙂
Such an adorable and fun craft. My youngest loves making crafts out of boxes from the recycling bin! Thanks for hosting, my first time linking up!
I love a craft that is simple yet effective and this is just that. Will definitely be giving these a go with my littlest man! #DreamTeam
These look fabulous! Something for me to save and try with my daughter next year when she is a bit older #DreamTeam
I love a simple craft like this, and it’ll give us another chance to use up some of all the toilet rolls I’ve been saving up for crafting projects! Pinning this, thank you 🙂 x #DreamTeam
These are so adorable, Lily did a great job with them! #DreamTeam
Argh! I should have read this last week! These look great, especially with a bit of glitter. I’m going to have to remember these for next year. #dreamteam
This looks like lots of fun – shared on Twitter! #DreamTeam
Great spiders! Max’s birthday is October 30 so we usually end up having a Halloween themed birthday party. He’s 7 this year & hasn’t tired of it yet!! Good to see you back this week! #mischiefandmemories
Definitely boo-tastic!
And fun!
Don’t they look great! #MischiefandMemories
What a great craft idea. I’d not thought of making spiders from toilet roll tubes before. Love the glitter as well. #MischiefandMemories
Simple and so very effective! That is my type of craft. #MischiefandMemories
