The school holidays tend to bring out my major wibble wobbles. Are we doing enough? Are we doing TOO much? How much downtime is good? And just when I think I have downtime sussed out, I get a major case of mum guilt. Because shouldn’t I be packing in as much action as possible while we have the chance? Ekk! Since when did school holidays get so pressure filled?
There’s definitely some sort of balance to be had here.
Looking back over the first half of this holiday, I know that I’ve got it right for us, despite worrying that I haven’t. There’s been family get-togethers, Easter egg hunts, Easter baking, crafts and adventures at Kew Gardens for the Peter Rabbit event.
There’s been the BIG sleep over. Swimming, the cinema, trips to the park and an exciting circus adventure!
Life has been pretty peachy over this school holiday for us, but I have to pinch myself (figuratively) as a reminder. So that I can remember that I’m ‘good enough’ in the school holidays. That being together, whatever we are doing is ‘good enough’. Heck it’s the bees knees. And stuff that magical memories are made if.
Do you ever get the school holiday wibble wobbles? Yup? Then these should help.

What do you think?
Do you have a favourite quote which reminds you that you are good enough?
I love these quotes, especially the one about the best gift you can give your child. I also struggle with mom guilt and wondering if I’m doing enough, but I think the main thing is all the time we spend with them, and not what we’re doing in that time. xx #DreamTeam
Hi, you certainly had a fun packed few weeks, I guess it’s all a bit a of a balancing act and sometimes been a bit lazy is just what everyone needs and looks forward to it. I’m loving the quotes especially ‘you are good enough’ #dreamteam
Sounds like you all had a great school holiday! Better than good enough #DreamTeam
I love and need a strong quote when I am at my worst. Such a positive read #dreamteam
Sounds like a fab holiday great quotes thanks for hosting #dreamteam
These are such great quotes. I especially like ‘you are good enough’ try to remind myself that everyday #DreamTeam
Powerful quotes. I used to find school holidays so challenging but now I home educate so it is more of a long drawn out stress so less pressure in some ways and more in others. I do love a good quote. #DreamTeam
Love a good quote #DreamTeam
Looks like you had a fun filled hollibobs Annette! Love that Winnie-the-Pooh quote..use it often. #dreamteam
I think we need to stop comparing ourselves and just live our life. Do what is best for you and your family at any given time. Everyone else can pound sand! #dreamteam
I love the Winnie the Pooh quote. It’s one of my favourites 🙂
I love this post, we all have so many wobbles. Dr Seuss has written some awesome quotes #dreamteam
Love all these quotes. My favourite is “If you never did you should. These things are fun, and fun is good.” I am kind of an introvert personality-wise so this quote is a good motivation for me to try to step out of my comfort zone. #DreamTeam
I love ‘the best gift you can give them is you’ that’s a cracker. Our time and attention is often forgotten.
Whenever I get to the end of the day and wonder if it’s been fun or we’ve done enough, I always try to remember how many times my daughter has laughed. It’s almost always loads of times so I feel like a bit of a better Mum 🙂 #DreamTeam
Oh I love these quotes! The holidays weren’t so bad for us but they were pretty quiet. I however, felt nice and relaxed! #DreamTeam
I think it’s true that we scroll Insta in the holidays and put ourselves under all kinds of pressure to fill each day with adventures, but as your quote says, time together is just good enough. Thanks for hosting #DreamTeam xx
Annette, I’m surprised to see that such an excellent mother as you questions herself! I don’t think children need to have every minute of a school holiday filled. A fair bit of down time that gives them time to think, to process things, to quietly read (or look at) books, to entertain themselves, will be good for them. I think they need a break from the barrage of entertainment and overstimulation that is so constant now. #DreamTeam
The last quote sounds like my everyday! I might stress about it sometimes, but at the end, I’m happy I have this mess in my life! #DreamTeam
What a wonderful holiday time you all and they are some wonderful quotes #dreamream
All great quotes and it sound like you had a fantastic holiday. I love: The best gift you can give them is you! So true. Thank you for hosting #dreamteam
I found the school holidays really tough – felt like I was letting them down so much! Wish I’d seen this post sooner! #DreamTeam
Sounds like you had a great Easter holiday with lots of things to do. Love the Dr Suess quote. As we had builders at home over Easter we were out every day and my daughter was flagging by the Friday but we had a nice lazy weekend before the return to school yesterday. #DreamTeam
I love the jobs vs adventures quote. ❤️ Really lovely post. Worth remembering that we are enough. #dreamteam
I love the “jobs fill your pockets” quote. I love to adventure with my monkeys they can really make me feel alive again. #DreamTeam
Some great quotes and something we need to remember all the time. Looks like you had great fun over the holidays #dreamteam xx
I love these quotes. I think its really easy to compare yourself with others and worry that you haven’t done enough with your kids over the holidays. The thing is, my kids had the most fun playing in the back garden on their swing and trampoline! #dreamteam
I love these. Anything from Winnie the Pooh has my vote and I really like the one about giving them you. This is something I must try to remember more often as I am so frequently doing several things at once and only half playing play dough… #dreamteam
I love Dr Seuss quotes, they get me through some hard days! Lovely quotes, but thank god the holidays are over! #dreamteam
These are great reminders!!! Look like a fab holiday! #dreamteam
Some great quotes – I also like this one “small progress is still progress” #dreamteam
It must be strange for children to go from the regimented day at school to the holidays when you expect them to want some down time but they want structure and activities #dreamteam
We’ve yet to school our girls so instead of worrying about just the school holidays I worry all the time! #DreamTeam
I survived mainly on wine – wine & chocolate! #DreamTeam
I definitely get this feeling of am I doing enough/too much over the holidays too! Stupid Mum guilt! It sounds like you really found a balance over the Easter holidays and, looking back, I don’t think I did too badly for my boy either. Lovely quotes xx #dreamteam
