L.O.L Surprise! Pearl Surprise Review

July 14, 2018

Little Button is crazy about L.O.L Surprise! Dolls and Pets. Out of all the collectable toys that she has, so far, these are the ones that have really stuck. As her collection has been growing, there’s absolutely no sign of her interest slowing a year on. The play value that she gets from these is fantastic, and I’ll hazard a guess that wherever she is, one of her L.O.L Surprise Dolls or Pets will be close by. She got a big surprise of her own when we were sent the limited edition L.O.L Surprise! Pearl Surprise to check out.

L.O.L Surprise! Pearl Surprise

The L.O.L Surprise! Pearl Surprise is a limited edition version of the L.O.L Surprise! Dolls family. Do you remember the L.O.L Big Surprise that flew off the shelves last Christmas? Well, the packaging is a bit like that, except on a scaled down version and costs around the £29.99 mark.

Full of surprises

You get a very different play experience opening the Pearl Surprise as there isn’t the iconic ball to unwrap. Instead, you start off with the limited edition carry case (fab for storage and transporting dolls and pets).

Peeling off the turquoise lid reveals the first layer of surprises, 6 little pearls hiding 6 exclusive accessories.

These are 2 full outfits for the exclusive tot (full sized doll). Cute! Little Button, who is a complete fashioneaster was hugely impressed by the beach babe designs.

Rainbow fizz

Once you’ve opened all the balls, which can take anything from 2 to 15 minutes depending on your little ones engagement with the goodies, you will spy the ultimate surprise. An enormous seashell rainbow fizz. Wow!

Unfortunately it’s not for the bath, so don’t be tempted.

Fill your upturned carry case or another suitable container with cold water. And let the fizzing commence!

I think we were all a bit mesmerised at this point. Little Button had her hands in, enjoying the fizzing sensation and giving the seashell rainbow fizz a helping hand, because she just couldn’t bear to wait.

Seashell surprise!

Once the fizz has disappeared you are left with a pretty turquoise seashell to open. It’s a bit tricky to pop open (Little Button is 5 years old), but the rewards are sweet.

Inside the seashell are 3 blind bags to open. These contain the all important pop bottle, exclusive lil sister and tot.

Little Button LOVED them! As with all the dolls and pets, the detailing and finish is gorgeous. These exclusive dolls have a pearl shimmer finish to their skin and hair, making them extra special indeed.

Water reveal

The final surprise is the water reveal. Which of course is pretty epic for the limited edition dolls. You need clean cold water and ice for this to work at it’s best.

These dolls BOTH colour change when dunked in cold water! Yay! Lil sisters swim bottoms change colour to purple and reveal a cute anchor print. And tot has a magical blue bikini. Stunning.

We did this on a scorching day and unfortunately our ice melted so quickly with the heat that we couldn’t keep the water cool enough to really show the colour change at it’s best. But having seen Little Buttons other colour changing L.O.L Surprise dolls, I know that they are pretty spectacular.

Final Thoughts

Little Button adores the new and exclusive L.O.L Surprise! Pearl Surprise. She spent a lot of time unwrapping and revealing the different surprises, close to an hour. So probably 4 times as long as the single balls I would say. As I’m writing, she’s sat behind me playing with the Pearl Surprise set alongside her other L.O.L dolls. Who, later today will be off on a paddling pool adventure! They really inspire her independent play, which of course is priceless.

L.O.L Surprise! Pearl Surprise

From a parents point of view, yes, the set is a bit expensive at £29.99, considering individual balls retail at £11 for a tot and £5.99 for a lil sister. But I would argue that the extra outfit changes, unique unwrapping experience and exclusive dolls are completely worth it.

Disclosure: We were sent this L.O.L Surprise! Pearl Surprise for Little Button to put through it’s paces. All views are my own, and Little Buttons!

I love the colour change factor – such a cute addition to a collectable toy. Disappointing the shell isn’t a bath bomb though – what a waste 🙁 I’d pay the £30 if it were a proper bath bomb. Not sure it’s worth the inevitable mopping up as it stands haha #DREAMTEAM
